Toronto English Country Dancers
Fundraising folk dance in aid of Syrian refugeesNo partner, no fancy footwork, no dance experience neededFriday, March 4, 8-10 pmTrinity St Paul Centre, 427 Bloor St WAll welcome! No partner or dance experience required, no lead or follow – just friendly fun to live jigs and reels in a wonderful venue. Our dance – a blend of beginner-friendly English Country Dances, easy circles and other folk dances – features an exciting three-piece band (Stephen Fuller on fiddle, DJ Moons on piano, Peter Stoll on clarinet) and calling by Tara Bolker and Karen Millyard. Every dance will be taught and walked through, then cued during the music. If you can hear the instructions and you can walk, you can do this! Suggested minimum contributions: $20 / $15 for students, but more would be cheerfully accepted! All profits after expenses will be donated to Lifeline Syria. Everyone is encouraged to attend – even if you don't plan to dance, come to enjoy the music, support the cause, have some refreshments and spend time with the community at the wonderful Trinity St Paul's Centre (Google maps link). Please note that our events are fragrance-free. Bring a pair of clean, low-heeled shoes to dance in: leather soles, jazz sneakers or old, well-worn running shoes are all good. High heels are not safe for this dance form. Bring your own cup or water bottle to help spare the environment; juice and cookies will be available for purchase to help raise money for the fund. This will be a great, fun evening, and we look forward to seeing you there! Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions, either by e-mail: ask AT torontoenglishdance DOT ca or by phone: (416) 578-1031. Click here to see the flyer
